Happy New Year everyone!
We have had fantastic guests staying over the busy New Year period, thank you all for being so lovely. I hope you all got home safely and are planning your next visit to Queenstown Motel Apartments.
I was surprised by how many positive comments my last post on driving safely while you holiday in New Zealand has received. I am glad you enjoyed it and so have a few more hints and thoughts on keeping safe on our roads for you...
To enable us all to see each other better, I actively encourage people to drive with their full lights on all the time (even during daylight hours). It makes such a difference for the oncoming traffic, they can see you easily so are less likely to run into you... (Remember to turn your lights off when you stop!)
Over here our new learner drivers have to drive with a yellow "L" plate always displayed on both the front and back windows. It warns other motorists that they are not competent drivers yet so to be wary of them and to drive defensively because the "L" driver might do some rather weird things... I couldn't help but notice one of our overseas visitors was using "L" plates recently. I thought it was a great idea (even if it is not quite the use it was intended for, I doubt the driver would get into trouble with the law for displaying it). Anyway, I shouldn't encourage you to 'bend the rules' but hey, it might stop an accident and people being injured so it can't be too naughty can it??
Please, if you have not been driving for long in your own country (I suggest you should have been driving for at least two years on a regular basis) consider taking public transport while you are holidaying in New Zealand. There are many cheap flights to Queenstown on offer and you don't even need a car when you stay with us, we are so close to town you can walk. There is also a very good bus service available both locally and throughout the South Island so consider buses too (we are only a minute from the bus stops so very conveniently located for you)
My quote for this post is:
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."
All the best for 2015,
